SAVE THE DATE—On Saturday, April 5, St. Lawrence Church will host an evening of sacred music with meditations presented by Bp. Senior and the priests of St. Lawrence.

The music will be presented by the Chamber Singers of Messiah University with orchestra for a Lenten meditation. Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri is comprised of seven cantatas, each of which addresses a part of Jesus' crucified body: feet, knees, hands, side, breast, heart, and face. In each cantata, its main text is drawn from Biblical passages and the medieval hymn Salve mundi salutare, formerly ascribed to St. Bernard of Clairvaux but now thought to be by Cistercian monk Arnulf of Leuven.

Salve mundi salutare,
salve, salve Jesu care!
Cruci tuae me aptare
vellem vere, tu scis quare,
da mihi tui copiam.

Hail, salvation of the world,
Hail, hail, dear Jesus!
On Your cross would I hang
Truly, You know why
Give me Your strength.
