MAY 8, 2025—With such joy did we and people around the world greet the news that the college of cardinals had elected a new pope on only the second day of conclave! To the suprise of almost everyone, the name announced on the loggia of St. Peter's was that of an American: Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost, an Augustinian from Chicago and a graduate of Villanova University. He chose the name Leo, becoming Leo XIV. Please join us in praying for the Holy Father, the successor of Peter, and the Vicar of Christ on Earth. Especially let us pray for Pope Leo on May 18, the day of his inauguration. We will mark that day with a special High Mass at St. Lawrence: the Mass for the coronation of the pope.
